I graduated from the University of South Florida in May 2018. I majored in mass communications with a concentration in magazine journalism.
I remember when I decided to pursue a higher education in writing. I was having dinner with friends, completely lost, like most 18-year-old high school graduates. I had no idea what I wanted to be or where I saw myself five years from then. My friend asked, “Well what do you love?”
After that, I changed my major to mass communications from health sciences before my freshmen orientation. I never switched majors again. I never withdrew or failed a class. I never stopped loving writing.
I chose magazine journalism, because I was apart of the yearbook committee in high school. I loved finding stories from everyday high school students. My teacher never let us forget that we had to report the truth.
In 2016, I had the pleasure to write for the online publication called Odyssey. It was the first time my writing got published. I created my own content and wrote stories weekly.
During my time at USF, my professors prepared us for the evolution of journalism. In my reporting class, I learned how to create high quality videos to go along with my articles. I was able to use my storytelling skills in the short videos.
I also have experience using Adobe programs, such as Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
I am a quick learner and I am ready to continue my journey as a journalist.
